Computers Nationwide recently attended the International Security Conference 2018 in Las Vegas. Our team couldn’t wait for ISC West because they showcase the leaders in the security tradeshow industry. ISC Security Events are the only security tradeshows strategically designed to provide products, technology, education & networking covering physical, IT and IoT security. This organization runs various regional events across North, and South America. For 3 days we were among over 30,000+ fellow security professionals and exhibitors seeing the emerging technology in security and network training.
The most interesting trends and technologies in home automation and IoT emerge every year at ISC West, the biggest trade show for the security industry.
As reported by Julie Jacobson, Nortek’s Elan Home Systems introduced its first line of IP cameras and networked video recorders (NVR), and they integrate natively with the company’s home automation and entertainment system. The significance of the combo might have been lost on many of the traditional security dealers at the show, but it’s a big deal because it is the first “native” integration between an NVR (network video recorder) and popular smart-home system in the pro channel.
The ISC West 2018 conference also showcased how the Smart Building has become the industry standard. Security and access control systems used to require invasive installations with wired devices, cameras and sensors strewn throughout the building. Dedicated hubs, servers and phone lines often tied to a central support station or team were in place continually monitoring and maintaining the system. That’s all changing. The trend is for systems to be multimodal (ie. cameras, sensors, drones) which are highly effective working in tandem with other building systems wifi-enabled and tied to our smartphones.
